Film Review by FIORE
What happens to an aging porn star, once famous for the
ability to perform self-fellatio, who no longer can appease the degenerate
crowd with his endowment? Well, you star
in B-schlock horror movies! And that is
exactly what Ron Jeremy is doing in SUNSET
SOCIETY. The ‘hedgehog” has nothing
more than an extended cameo in the film, but is still given top billing as the
only recognizable name.
Written and directed by Phoebe Dollar and Rolfe Kanesfky, SUNSET SOCIETY concerns a secret cult
of vampires living and partying in Hollywood.
The group is led by Ace, played by Lemmy Kilmister, from the band
Motorhead. He is an old cowboy who has
preserved the group for centuries, but now, the reckless behavior of new millennial
members is threatening to expose the society to the general public. To stem the tide of irresponsible conduct,
Ace hires Frankie (Jeremy) and Sophia (Dollar) as silencers. Also starring are: Tracii Guns, from the band
L.A. Guns; Dizzy Reed, from Guns N’ Roses; and Robert Donovan.
There is nothing notable in SUNSET SOCIETY. It is an
amateurish Indie film. Cinematography,
editing, acting and scripting are all on the level of a local neighborhood
performance. The story is forgettable,
and plays like a poor knock-off of TRUE
BLOOD.
SUNSET
SOCIETY is currently in theatres and will be available for home
video at the end of the month. It is
strictly for Jeremy fans, and those who like to watch rockers try to act.
